The Swiss Society for African Studies invites paper propositions and poster propositions for the upcoming 4th Swiss Researching Africa Days. The objective of this biannual convention is to promote the exchange among the community of researchers working on Africa in Switzerland. Panels typically integrate young and established scholars (Master, PhDs, postdocs, professors). Papers will be submitted to one of seven thematic panels published in the . The poster session is open for ongoing or recently completed doctoral theses in the field of African Studies at Swiss universities.

The Arts Project Manager will develop and deliver art and greenspace design provision for Phases One and Two of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital Redevelopment.

Primary tasks include:
• Input into the design process for any capital elements with an arts purpose.
• Deliver prioritised arts and greenspace design projects for Phase One, outlining budgets, timelines and briefs.

The Traverse Theatre is currently looking to appoint Festival Stage Crew for the Festival Fringe period in August.

Festival Stage Crew will be responsible for the get-ins, fit-ups, turnarounds and get-outs of all of productions and events at the Traverse Theatre.

As a team, the Crew will be responsible for the smooth turnarounds of all scenic aspects of the productions in both theatres (Traverse 1 and Traverse 2) and events in the rest of the building including but not limited to anything from dance floors, flats, flown scenery and revolves to stage decks, furniture and props.

These are very physical roles with a fair amount of lifting and carrying. A working knowledge of theatre is essential as is the ability to work under pressure. Please note: these are non-technical roles and are within the Stage department of the Theatre.

The crew will be made up of a team of 9 people who will report to the Crew Chief and ultimately the Head of Stage.

The working week will be 48 hours with one day off per week. Any additional hours will be paid at single time. Positions will run from 1st to 30th August with one position running from 17th – 30th August. This role is not suitable for anyone with other commitments during these periods.

Impact Arts are looking for an Environmental Artist for the Urban Green: Cranhill Food Growing Project.

Urban Green: Cranhill Food Growing Project is an exciting and innovative programme that aims to transform an underused piece of ground in to a community garden. You will work as part of a team to transform the space and work with local young people and groups to make the project sustainable post March 2016.

This is a partnership project between Thenue Housing Association and Impact Arts and is funded through the Climate Challenge Fund.

The Project Outcomes are as follows:
• Increased knowledge of food production
• increased consumption of locally grown, healthy, low carbon food
• increased energy efficiency awareness
• reduced contribution to landfill
• improved mental & physical health amongst local people
• increased employability of local young people
• increased community awareness of climate change and commitment to minimizing environmental impact

These outcomes will be achieved through the delivery of key projects over the duration of the programme including:
• 2 programmes for people currently unemployed aged 16-24 based on Impact Arts successful Creative Pathways programme
• Community food growing workshops 2 days per week for 9 months for the wider Cranhill community
• Food growing sites will use recycled materials to divert materials from landfill including a creation of artworks
• Creation of composting site to reduce carbon emissions of vegetable waste going to landfill

Your role is to design and deliver a high quality and structured programme, in line with the project objectives.

You will lead and support a group of up to 15 unemployed young people to create food growing sites in the community in a creative and inspiring way.

You will be teaching skills in recycling/upcycling materials, creating public art, environmental awareness and other subject areas as suited to your skill base.

You must have the ability to work with challenging groups and an understanding of the barriers facing young people in gaining and sustaining employment.
